ReWa was selected to receive the Excellence in Management Recognition Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). The Excellence in Management Recognition Program recognizes public clean water utilities that implement progressive management initiatives and thereby advance the goals of the Clean Water Act. NACWA is committed to clean water and a healthy environment and strives to help ensure the member agencies have the tools they need to meet these objectives. ReWa fulfills this commitment to clean water through its significant efforts over the past several years to maximize efficiency during an era of rising costs and ever-expanding water quality challenges. |

The Water Environment Association of South Carolina (WEASC) recently recognized ReWa with the Biosolids Management Award at the South Carolina Environmental Conference (SCEC). This award recognizes ReWa for: significant recycling or reuse of natural resources such as nutrients, organic matter or energy; its sustained project for several years that is full-scale with proven operation; consistent, cost-effective operation; public acceptance; compliant with all federal, state and local regulations; and excellence in project management. |
| 2011 WEASC Operations Challenge Competition |

ReWa proudly announces that its Operations Team won second place in the Water Environment Association of South Carolina's (WEASC) 21st annual Operations Challenge competition. The event was held at the 2011 South Carolina Environmental Conference (SCEC) in Myrtle Beach. The Operations Challenge is an annual competition, which takes place across the country at the state level environment conferences. The event encourages wastewater treatment workers to compete in five events to test their operations skills and abilities. The team finished strong in all 5 team events in the competition: 1st in Collections, 2nd in Safety, 2nd in Laboratory, 2nd in Pump Maintenance, and 2nd in Process Control. The team won awards in individual events at the conference as well. ReWa dominated the Fastest Cut event with Cain Massey placing 1st and Russ Moore placing 2nd. Massey also placed 1st the Fastest Hole Cut competition. |

| 2010 WEASC Pretreatment Program Excellence Award |

The Water Environment Association of South Carolina (WEASC) presented ReWa with the Pretreatment Program Excellence Award. This award recognizes organizations in South Carolina that have demonstrated their commitment to protecting and improving the quality of the State's waters through exceptional implementation and enforcement of their Pretreatment Programs. William Armes, Industrial Pretreatment Program Manager at ReWa, received the award on behalf of the organization at a reception in Columbia. ReWa was presented with this award to recognize its leadership in the commitment to environmental stewardship and public service. The organization was also acknowledged for its pursuit in exemplary service to its customers while protecting the well-being and health of the State's citizens. |
| 2010 National Recreation & Parks Association Corporate Humanitarian Award |

ReWa is the recipient of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) 2010 Corporate Humanitarian Award for partnering with the Greenville County Recreation District in creating 6 recreational facilities. The facilities collectively serve over one million individuals annually and include the Pavilion Recreation Complex in Taylors, Brushy Creek Athletic Complex in Taylors, Pelham Mill Park, Cory Burns Park, Blue Trail (paddling trail) on the Reedy River and the Swamp Rabbit Trail. The National Corporate Humanitarian Award is presented annually to a corporation or foundation that has made significant and consistent contributions to the recreation, parks, and conservation fields by sponsorship, creation, or implementation of a program or project. |

Report for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The
CAFR award is presented annually by the Government Finance Officers
Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. The award is
the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting
and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant
accomplishment by a government and its management. |

NACWA was proud to recognize over 400 Peak Performance Award facilities during the Association's 2010 Summer Conference and 40th Annual Meeting, held July 20-23, 2010 in San Francisco, California. |

ReWa is proud to announce that seven of its facilities won the South Carolina Occupational Safety Council Award (SCOSC). These awards represent the commitment of each facility’s manager to providing their staff with a safe place to work. The following plants were recognized: Durbin Creek, Georges Creek/Marietta, Grove Creek/Piedmont, Lower Reed, Pelham, Solids Management, and Taylors. SCOSC presents these awards to organizations with an OSHA Recordable Incidence Rate that is at least 50% below the state average incident rate; these awards are based on the facility’s total recordable incident rate. ReWa thanks its managers for their continued effort. |

Plant Foreman Perry Ashmore of Greenville, S.C., graciously received the Gold Peak Performance Award on behalf of the Pelham wastewater treatment plant. David Collyer of Greer also received the Silver Peak Performance Award on behalf of the Taylors Wastewater treatment plant. “[ReWa] is an outstanding example of environmental efforts. NACWA is honored to showcase the efforts of [ReWa] and our nation’s public wastewater utilities through the Peak Performance Awards Program,” says Ken Kirk, NACWA’s Executive Director. NACWA presented the prestigious Gold Peak Performance Award to the Durbin Creek, George’s Creek, Gilder Creek, Lower Reedy, Mauldin Road, Pelham, and Slater-Marietta wastewater treatment plants to recognize their 100% compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements in 2007. | EPA Clean Water Partners for the 21st Century |

![]() The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded ReWa (then Western Carolina Regional Sewer Authority) the Clean Water Partners for the 21st Century Award. This one-time award was established in celebration of the Year of Clean Water, proclaimed by President George W. Bush. Clean Water Partners were recognized for their extraordinary actions to protect watersheds beyond the requirements of the Clean Water Act - actions such as protecting and restoring rivers, lakes, streams, and wetlands and initiating innovative local pollution prevention programs. The EPA commended ReWa for its public outreach programs and its participation in the EPA's Region 4 pilot MOM program, an ongoing performance improvement and quality assurance program. |

| 2007 SC Occupational Safety Council Awards |

ReWa (then Western Carolina Regional Sewer Authority) is proud to announce that six facilities were presented with South Carolina Occupational Safety Council (SCOSC) safety awards. The Mauldin Road treatment plant won the Palmetto Safety Excellence Award for the state in their category and code. This award is presented annually to the company with the lowest OSHA Recordable Incidence Rate that is at least 50% below the state average for comparable companies throughout South Carolina. The Gilder Creek, Georges Creek/Marietta, Grove Creek/Piedmont, Lower Reedy and Pelham treatment plants received the South Carolina Safety Certificate, which is awarded to companies whose incidence rate is below the state average for comparable companies which have not received the Palmetto Award. |

(NACWA). ReWa is proud to announce that Rep. Harrison was selected to
receive this award at the State level. The National Environmental Achievement
Awards (NEAA) annually recognize individuals and member agencies that
have made outstanding contributions to environmental protection and
wastewater management. The NEAA Public Service Award is given to current
or former elected or appointed public officials at the local, state
and federal levels of government who have demonstrated exemplary commitment
and service to their community, the environment and to NACWA. |
| 2006 WEASC Operations Challenge |
ReWa (then Western Carolina Regional Sewer Authority), "Virtual Velocity," earned first place at the 2006 Operations Challenge competition at the Water Environment Association of South Carolina's Annual Environmental Conference. The Operations Challenge is an annual competition, which takes place across the country at Water Environment Federation conferences. Team "Virtual Velocity" of ReWa came in first place in the overall competition. As a result of placing first overall, team "Virtual Velocity" is guaranteed the opportunity to compete in the National Competition this fall in Washington, D.C. |

Executive Director, Ray T. Orvin and former Chairman, John Boyette ReWa (then Western Carolina Regional Sewer Authority) was recently presented with the Public Information and Education Award by the National Association of Clean Water Agency (NACWA). NACWA annually recognizes individuals and member agencies that have made outstanding contributions to environmental protection and wastewater management. ReWa created the Freshwater Freddie Ultimate Water Guide for Kids. The piece was recognized as being a cost-effective tool that efficiently and effectively educated the community about protecting our environment and learning about the wastewater treatment process. |

The WEASC evaluates eligible organizations based on such criteria as their implementation and enforcement objectives, regulations for Commercial Dischargers and hauled wastes, inspections procedures, recordkeeping practices, enforcement strategies, and program components including staff training, stakeholder involvement and public awareness. |
