ReWa in the Community:

U.S. Green Building Council As part of our public education program, ReWa regularly hosts tours for businesses, organizations and school groups. The tours help increase awareness of the complexity of wastewater treatment process, as well as inform the community about measures ReWa takes to promote environmental sustainability.

Teacher Tour Some of ReWa's recent tours included the U.S. Green Building Council to view our new sustainable administration building (photo left), Mauldin Middle School students, the Soil & Water Commission with Greenville County teachers (photo right), engineering staff from Schneider Electric, and University of Florida students.

Fats, Oils & Grease Campaign

ReWa partners with organizations and events to extend its education program within the community. A few of this year included:

  • The Conestee Foundation's Second Annual Lake Conestee Clean-Up
  • Greenville Technical College's EarthFest 2009
  • Robert E. Cashion's Elementary School Health Fair
  • HBA of SC Greenville Greenbuild 2009
  • Fats, Oil & Grease (FOG) awareness campaigns with local subdistricts and community groups

ReWa offers a Grease-Be-Gone Can (photo right) instead of pouring FOG down the drain.

Cooking with Fats, Oils & GreaseReWa will also be participating in the Carolina First Saturday Market's Booths with a Cause to help educate the community about the hazards of Fats, Oil & Grease (FOG).

ReWa's Grease Inspector Kim McDonald will be onsite at the market on December 5th with information about safe cooking practices with grease to avoid damage to the sewer system. Click the image right to download the flyer.

We appreciate the community's support and engagement in our public education programs, and we welcome additional suggestions or feedback. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ray T. Orvin, Jr.
